MISSION
Working towards long-term conservation of large carnivores in Namibia through creating awareness, preserving habitat, conducting research and education.

ACTIVITIES

  • Seek solutions to the conflict between predators and farmers in Namibia by promoting tolerance of large carnivores among the farming community and assisting farmers in effective farm management techniques, including targeting problem predators as opposed to indiscriminate removal;
  • educate youth about large carnivores and environmental awareness at the AfriCat Environmental Education Centre;
  • research large carnivores, particularly cheetah and leopard on farmland and in captivity;
  • provide humane housing and treatment for confiscated or injured, unwanted or orphaned animals;
  • produce quarterly AfriCat Newsletter; and
  • Large Carnivore Activity Book (taken over by Viktoria Keding - Namib Desert Environmental Education Trust).
