Catholic AIDS Action is a welfare organisation.
MISSION
Acting in the spirit of Christ, Catholic AIDS Action challenges the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Namibia with the courage to fight and strength to care. It builds on Roman Catholic affiliated groups and institutions, and other partners to inspire and support programmes of HIV/AIDS prevention, home-based care, spirituality, empowerment for people living with HIV/AIDS, and support for orphans and vulnerable children.
ACTIVITIES
- National training and outreach to all 91 Catholic parishes in the country, plus other interested faith-based and community organisations, youth prevention built on peer-education behaviour change groups;
- volunteer training and support to over 1600 volunteers in over 100 community-based volunteer groups around the country;
- direct help to orphans and vulnerable children;
- voluntary counselling and HIV testing; and
- support for positive living via regional conferences and support groups.
