MISSION

Conservation through conservancy coordination and promotion.

AIMS

  • To represent as many properly established conservancies as possible in Namibia and to act as their coordinating body;
  • to liaise and endeavour to cooperate with the relevant authorities for the establishment, recognition and enforcement of legal implications in respect of conservancies and conservation;
  • to actively encourage its members to generate the interest and active participation of landowners, bona fide land occupiers, their representatives and / or agents as well as their employees, in the conservation of the environment and its fauna and flora;
  • to encourage and coordinate research and projects in respect of natural resource management;
  • to protect, regulate and improve the quality of the environment;
  • to facilitate and coordinate development of a marketing strategy of conservancies;
  • to create awareness, locally and internationally, of the objectives and activities of CANAM; and
  • to raise funds necessary for the promotion and implementation of the objectives of CANAM.

ACTIVITIES

  • Workshopping game-counts in and management plans for conservancies;
  • adding value to farm products through conservation;
  • conducting environmental lectures at the Polytechnic; and
  • acting as the mouthpiece for member conservancies.
