MISSION

The IRDNC Trust strives to impove the lives of rural people by diversifying the socio-economy in Namibia's communal areas to include wildlife and other valuable natural resources. The Trust further aims to build up the capacity of rural Namibians, and to assist them to develop a civil society whose members can sustainably manage and benefit from their local natural resources.

AIMS

  • To build skills and capacity of conservancies to sustainably manage their wildlife and other resources, to develop as effective rural institutions and to engage in income generating activities;
  • to provide and monitor interim financial support for conservancies, and to provide and/or access training in book-keeping, financial management and accountability for conservancy staff and members; and
  • to advocate community-based natural resources management nationally and internationally.

ACTIVITIES

• Training in natural resource management • community capacity-building and institutional development • facilitating the development of income-generating activities • interim financial and logistical assistance to conservancies.

FOCUS GROUP
IRDNC supports conservancies in the Kunene and Caprivi regions.
