MISSION
The Legal Assistance Centre is a public interest law centre that is committed to creating a human rights culture and promoting access to justice in Namibia. The Legal Assistance Centre focuses primarily on constitutional and human rights cases that are anticipated to have a broader impact on Namibian society.
AIMS
- To litigate only in the public interest, where a case is likely to have an impact beyond the people directly involved;
- to act for people who cannot afford legal costs; and
- to protect the human rights of all Namibians.
PROJECTS
- Land, Environment and Development Project;
- AIDS Law Unit;
- Human Rights and Constitutional Unit;
- Juvenile Justice Project;
- Legal Education Unit; and
- Gender Research and Advocacy Project.
