MISSION

The project aims at sensitising and supporting rural communities in communal areas to participate in the sustainable use and management of forestry and water resources in their local environment. Supporting local, donor-funded projects and community-based organisations.

AIMS

  • To organise existing and new community resource management groups in selected areas of Oshana, Omusati, Oshikoto and Ohangwena regions in establishing, implementing and sustaining their environment and development projects; and
  • to support community-based water resource and forest management groups in their project planning and fundraising activities.

ACTIVITIES

  • Mobilise resources and institutional support for the project among donor communities, governmental and non-governmental organisations at different levels inside and outside of Namibia;
  • identify forest and water management groups and their priority development needs regarding their environment, health and education in the north-central regions;
  • facilitate community training events, documentation of management processes, practices and environmental management of local knowledge systems;
