R3E is an incorporated association not for gain, initiated by the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

MISSION
To coordinate and advance all renewable energy and energy efficiency-related developments in Namibia and disseminate reliable information to ensure the efficient and sustainable use of all energy resources for the benefit of present and future generations in Namibia.

AIMS

  • To assist the Ministry of Mines and Energy in fulfilling its White Paper on Energy Policy (1998) obligations;
  • to address the lack of capacity in the energy sector as a whole and renewable energy and energy efficiency specifically;
  • to perform various Ministry of Mines and Energy non-core functions, thus freeing the Ministry of Mines and Energy to pursue policy issues;
  • to act as an out-sourcing agency with a greater degree of autonomy and stakeholder participation;
  • to implement, coordinate and monitor energy projects and encourage greater cooperation and integration; and
  • to compile project proposals, liaise with funding agencies and ensure fulfillment of project objectives.
