AIMS

  • To communicate openly with and enhance capacity of local communities;
  • to commit to continual environmental improvement - particularly with pollution prevention from operations;
  • to implement controls to minimise dust and other atmospheric releases;
  • to avoid, and where not possible, minimise adverse impacts on ecological features;
  • to minimise wastes and seek to reuse, recycle and/or recover materials where practicable;
  • to manage water by minimising consumption and pollution thereof; and
  • to plan, implement and monitor effects of land rehabilitation programmes, focused on long term environmental restoration and protection.

ACTIVITIES

  • Work with partners to manage the collective environmental impact;
  • educate employees in a way that provides life skills, recognised qualifications and the training needed to work in an environmentally responsible way;
  • engage in dialogue with local, regional and national bodies with a view to sharing experience in the field of environmental protection and management; and
  • periodically evaluate all activities to identify significant environmental and social issues.
