VISION

To promote the essential conditions for the maintenance and conservation of biodiversity.

MISSION
To further the cause of vulture conservation through the facilitation of research, conservation action and communication both in southern Africa and internationally.

AIM
To stimulate and coordinate conservation and research with respect to all southern African vulture species.

ACTIVITIES

  • Ringing and researching the white backed vulture in the Namib-Naukluft Park, Etosha National Park and farming areas;
  • supporting an active programme by the Rare and Endangered Species Trust (REST) underway in the Waterberg area - focusing on Cape and other vultures; and
  • extension through the Farmer's Unions, conservancies and other interested groups.

SPECIAL NOTES
VSG sees itself operating on two fronts. In southern Africa, the emphasis is on conservation action and research. Internationally it strives to act as a global forum for the international vulture conservation community, primarily through the communication medium of Vulture News, Gyps Snips and Vulture Views.
