The Walvis Bay Local Agenda 21 Project falls within the municipality of Walvis Bay.

AIMS

  • To reach significant achievements towards sustainable environmental management of the Walvis Bay area in accordance with Local Agenda 21 principles; and
  • to improve awareness in natural resources savings and environmental issues.

ACTIVITIES

  • Provide funds for Environmental Management and cross-sector initiatives;
  • water saving project;
  • municipal bicycles;
  • environmental education for schools in Walvis Bay;
  • the Green Garden and Corner;
  • recreation and conservation in the dune belt;
  • recycling;
  • training for cleaner production in the fishing industry; and
  • capacity development on a long term monitoring basis.

FOCUS GROUPS
Walvis Bay residents (industries, government, non-governmental organisations, community-based organisations and schools).
