VISION
To ensure a unified and satisfied community in a safe, clean and sustainable city with a safe water supply. Promoting public awareness through the approach of sustainable development, hence respecting the natural environment and diveristy of its inhabitants.

MISSION
Aims for consensus building between the City of Windhoek and its inhabitants on how to harmonise urban development with environmental protection.

ACTIVITIES

  • Create a competent secretariat;
  • create and expand membership of WELA;
  • create a forum for the identification of environmental issues for discussion and recommendations;
  • establish a platform for training and research on Local Agenda 21 issues;
  • encourage / support environment-related projects; and
  • develop and maintain policies on sustainable development guided by Vision 2030 and national development plans within the authority of WELA.
