NNF acquires Cessna 172 aircraft

The NNF has acquired a 4-seater Cessna 172 aircraft for conservation work, which will be available to conservation partners at a cost-recovery rate. The aircraft is well-suited for surveying and monitoring at the coast and in the Namib; for aerial photography; monitoring wetlands, bush encroachment and deforestation; compliance monitoring of EIAs of developments such as prospecting and mining; radio tracking and downloading waypoints from satellite transmitters; monitoring and photographing settlements and land uses etc. It is not suited for low level work such as game counts, and nor should it be used in hilly terrain. The NNF does not provide a pilot, so those interested in making use of the plane would need to hire a pilot or find a volunteer pilot to fly it.

The charge out rate for the aircraft is a dry rate (because of differences in fuel prices across country and rapidly changing prices). The dry rate is N$785 per hour. The aircraft will be fully fueled when hired, and must be left full.
