Best Practices on Community Visioning

A guide for civil society engagement in sustainable natural resource management. This booklet is a product of the Succulent Karoo Ecosystem Programme (SKEP) of Namibia sub-region. The long term goal of SKEP is to ensure that 'Biodiversity in the Succulent Karoo Ecosystem of Namibia is effectively conserved and managed by the state and civil society through an integrated programme of conservation action and co-management for the sustainable development of the region, the national economy and the livelihoods of people.' The guide intends to assist communities residing in the Succulent Karoo Biome to take ownership of their developmental initiatives and improve their livelihoods from the sustainable use of natural resources.

Finding Treasures: A walk in the Sperrgebiet.

This booklet illustrates some of the beauty encountered by the 9th EduVentures expedition (15/8- 1/9/2006) to two inselbergs in the Sperrgebiet: the Kowis Mountain, which is closer to the coast and receives more regular fog and is therefore more densely vegetated; and the Tsaukhaib Mountain, which receives most of its moisture from winter rainfall.

Aloes: Aristocrats of Namibian Flora

The Namibia Nature Foundation, through the Local Environment Fund 2004 Programme, supported the production of the booklet "Aloes: Aristocrats of Namibia". The booklet covers the 28 Aloe species that occur in Namibia, including two species recently discovered in the country. The booklet provides the first update on the Aloe species since 1973.
