Support to the Ministry of Environment and Tourism
Part of SKEP Namibia's role is to undertake, and assist the MET in, a range of activities in support of the establishment of the Sperrgebiet National Park and conservation-friendly activities in the Park's buffer areas.
Some of the main activities SKEP will support are:
- Gap analysis of biodiversity information needs and strategic action plan to address critical information gaps
- Land consolidation strategy
- Park management plan
- Development of institutional and administrative arrangements of a National Park under the jurisdiction of three ministries and with multiple stakeholders
- Tourism-, business- and funding mechanism plans
- Infrastructure costing
- Human resources and training strategy
- Park neighbour vision and action plan
- Good practice procedures for monitoring and information management
- Review of policy and best practice for mining in parks.
