Project Management
The project management unit and implementation
Housed at the Namibia Nature Foundation, the project management unit is run by Kauna Schröder (Project Coordinator) and Benedict Libanda (Small Grants Programme Manager) with support from Antje Burke (Technical Advisor) and Chris Brown, as well as other staff at the Namibia Nature Foundation.
SKEP Steering Committee
There is a SKEP Steering Committee which supports the programme and ensures that key stakeholders have an opportunity to provide input. One important role of the Steering Committee is evaluating grant proposals. The SKEP Namibia Steering Committee is a crucial building block in the SKEP Namibia programme and helps to ensure that the SKEP vision is achieved in the most effective, transparent and interactive manner.
The SKEP Steering Committee's brief is to:
- Review and approve SKEP Namibia small grants
- Help create linkages between SKEP and other ongoing and related activities
- Provide strategic guidance to the SKEP Namibia coordination unit
The Steering committee comprises representatives of regional government, MET, MME and other line ministries, NGOs, communities, mining, tourism and other private sectors. The Steering Committee is appointed for the duration of the project (until December 2007). Serving on this committee is voluntary. As committee members are scattered across Namibia, most communication is by email, telephone and newsletters. Meetings are scheduled to take place no more than twice annually, unless exceptional circumstances arise.
The Steering Committee consists of the following members:
