CBNRM - community benefit distribution planning

17 Jul 2014 | News

Giving members of the community a say in how the benefits from community-based natural resource management (CBNRM) are shared in their conservancy.

Herman Frans from the NNF CBNRM team recently visited many different villages in the Doro !nawas conservancy in the Kunene region, as part of the MCA-N funded CDSS project. He presented a summary of the conservancy constitution and discussed Distribution Planning and Benefit Sharing with the villagers, who are members of the conservancy.

This was the first session of its kind in this conservancy since it was established 14 years ago. The conservancy members were very keen to give their input on how the income from the community-based natural resource management in their conservancy would be shared throughout the community.
